The Stevensville Hotel, located in the former Thornton Hospital, built in
1910, and on the National and Montana Historic Registers, is under new ownership since 2004. Now after nearly 4 years of renovations, we are happy to say the hotel and surrounding gardens are complete. Come experience the finest historic accommodations in the Bitterroot Valley!
The rooms are graced with authentic period furnishings, Supreme Rest queen-sized mattresses, luxurious 100% cotton linens and handmade quilts. Antique & local contemporary art
adorn the walls. Continental Breakfast is served in the morning featuring locally roasted organic coffee. Seasonal fresh flowers from the garden adorn the halls and lobby, and the hotel has wireless high-speed internet available. Sit out on our lovely porch and watch the sun set over the Bitterroot Mountains!
Just one block from Main Street, you can visit art galleries, antique shops, gift shops, and restaurants. Take a stroll and visit the neighborhood's historic buildings, including the beautiful Bass Mansion and St. Mary's Mission, founded in 1841. Within two miles are the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge, the Whitetail Golf Course, the Bitterroot River, and many mountain trails awaiting exploration.
With our newly expanded Lobby and full sized kitchen area, we are ready to
host your special event, anniversary, graduation & birthday parties.
The Hotel was featured in Missoula Living Magazine in their February/March
Issue. Enjoy exploring our website pages and please give us a call toll free at 1-888-816-2875 to book your reservation.
New Arrival, The Annex After having such busy summers the last 2 years, we began looking for a
way to expand the number of hotel rooms available. In June of 2007, we
found a newly renovated house that was slated to be demolished. We decided
that recycling was better than the landfill, so we moved it through town
and built a new foundation under it. It is located 2 blocks from the Hotel
and next to the 5th Street Guesthouse building. The Annex is open for long
and short stay guests starting in March 08. Please go to The Annex Page
for full details.
Stevensville Hotel is proud to support our local art associations. Alison
and Robbie entered a scarecrow again in the 2nd annual Festival. We also hosted our 4th Annual SASS Art Show in December. We are
displaying the newly purchased SASS sculpture "To Know Joy" by JR Eason (pictured below)
through May 2008 in the Lobby before it is mounted in Lange Park. For more
on SASS and views of the Scarecrow Contest, visit www.sassart.org, then go
to Events. There will be several art events this summer, including "Made
in the Shade" in May and Western Heritage Art Show in June, so if you're
in town, check them out.
Awards & Recognitions This year the Stevensville Main Street awarded the
Hotel "Outstanding Exterior Enhancement" for our newly planted gardens &
upgraded porch and walkways.
On The Radio! One day in late January 2007, Kevin Maki walked unannounced through our
front door and asked if he could interview us for a radio show. We put
down our tools and started answering his many questions, and gave him a
tour of the building. The result is this wonderful radio story aired on
January 25, 2007 on KUFM, Montana Public Radio, broadcast out of Missoula,
MT. Click here to play.
We also are involved in the Chantilly Theatre, which produces live plays,
musicals, and interactive dinner murder mysteries for both children and
adults throughout the year. Ali performed in Charlotte's Web in December.
